A Legendary Launch
Today, we're excited to share that the LGND AI stack is moving out of beta to general access (GA). We are releasing two products into GA today, with more on the way.
You can sign up today for API access at lgnd.ai/pricing or try Discover for free at discover.lgnd.ai.
We want to start by thanking everyone who gave us feedback on the beta products over the past few months! To recap our last post, the LGND API lets you search satellite and aerial imagery the way you'd search the web, with natural language and/or references on a map. We generate and search geo-embeddings — compact numerical representations of what's in a multispectral image – at a global scale for any image source. In time, we will be releasing more models with evaluation tools to compare them.
Second, we are launching Discover today, our first, free, application built on top of the LGND API. This is an example of an application you can build with the LGND API. It is also a simple way to experience the power of geo-embeddings and start to explore the world.
We’re excited to share new features for LGND’s API to accelerate insight discovery:
- Custom Embedding Generation
You can now run the Clay model to generate embeddings for any date(s) and location(s) in the Sentinel-2 archive. The resulting embedding collection can then be queried to locate features of interest, changes of interest or support other models.
- Multiple models
In addition to the Clay model, you can now retrieve/generate embeddings from other models like Alpha Earth in a single workflow, letting you benchmark results and combine model strengths. Lookout for additional open-source models in the coming weeks.
- Self-Service Sign Up and Billing
We’re also launching our credit subscription models. Credits are consumed according to the size of the area and imagery embedded, i.e. the underlying compute. Indexing, storage, and search are free.
All new users get 1000 credits for free – enough to embed a small region and run searches, so you can validate the API in your stack. Plans start at $20/month for individual users, with custom pricing for bespoke enterprise solutions. You can review all plans on our website at: lgnd.ai/pricing
Built for Real-World Use Cases
LGND's API is already powering applications across industries: measuring above-ground biomass in forests, mapping structure damage, modeling community-level risk, detecting vessels, ports and offshore-wind as well as tracking solar arrays, wind farms and oil rigs. It’s also what powers our freely available Discover app.
Launching Discover
Today, we also launched Discover, LGND’s explorer application that finds things in imagery over space and time. Enter a query like "find timber yards in Oregon" or “new windmills in Iowa” and Discover uses LGND AI’s API to find matches globally, in seconds. The app combines the power of LLMs with LGND's foundation model platform for conversational geospatial search.
We’re also sharing how we built LGND’s Discover app to create a performant application for Earth intelligence, using the LGND API'. Discover accepts a text string which then queries an indexed collection of embeddings and returns the top 100 matches. By wrapping LGND's satellite chip search behind a conversational interface, it dramatically lowers the barrier to earth observation — turning what was once a query-language or GIS-expert task into something anyone can do. Read more about how Discover leverages the LGND API in our new case study.

Note that Discover is currently running on 1-meter NAIP imagery for the US from 2020 and 2022. Discover can run on any imagery source, anywhere in the world, so if you are interested in other areas or imagery (spatial/temporal resolutions), get in touch.
